Have you ever sat back and wondered about the business decisions made by Microsoft executives? Well, I did. It never ceases to amaze me how these people are helpless. The blogosphere was on fire this week with the news that Microsoft entered the market for portable MP3 players. A columnist or other claims that the new Microsoft Zune is the ultimate iPod killer. On the other hand, there are a number of us who are serious doubts about the ability of Microsoft to have entered a market is already saturated with products of competitors.
However, one can not help but wonder why they waited so long. Apple has played in that area for years, as have dozens of other companies in the consumer electronics industry. I understand the logic behind a “wait and see, but it is a sad case of too little, too late for Microsoft. With the intellectual resources and working capital that Microsoft has, I am always by their lack of initiative in the market place surprised.
So, why is a company, a Titan apparently chosen in their sector, is so afraid to take risks? Bill Gates is so concerned about his philanthropic work he has allowed his company to drift into the sea of relevance? If they move, to come as their recent announcement of the Zune MP3 player, I ask myself serious, what they did during the last five years.
I know that Microsoft has an unlimited marketing budget, but honestly think they have they get a chance on the market that Apple dominates so clear? Perhaps they have a new way to turn back time developed for but in my humble opinion, what well be a complete waste of time.
